Hey, fellow travellers! I’m Suzi, the woman with a different pair of glasses for every occasion and a heart that never says ‘no’ to an opportunity!
Hitting my forties made me realise- I wanted more. More adventures, more experiences, more memories. I didn’t just want to dream about exploring the world; I wanted to live it! Since Covid, I’ve embraced change in the best way- moving to a countryside town, expanding my education, and reflecting on what truly makes me happy. And guess what? Travel has always been at the top of that list.
With a background in hospitality, customer service, and operations, combined with my love for globe-trotting and embracing culture, I decided to sink my abilities into a new challenge and start up my travel consultancy. I realised that my passion for travel and people was a perfect match. So, I decided to combine my skills and knowledge to create a space where I could help others experience the world in the best way possible. From planning bespoke itineraries to offering guidance on hidden gems, I aim to make every journey a memorable one.
So here I am, running my own travel consultancy, and I’m so excited to share my love for travel with you all! As the saying goes, ‘Nothing Ventured…. Nothing gained!’
I spend my weekends uncovering the hidden gems of the UK, from Cornwall to Skye, while also chasing new adventures around the globe.
Born in Dubai, I grew up travelling the world, and that nomadic spirit has stayed with me ever since. Now that our daughter has caught the travel bug too (and often jets off on her own!), my husband and I have even more freedom to spread our wings and explore the world together. I enjoy capturing moments on camera (though I’m no photographer!). Seeing those photos pop up in my memories instantly takes me back to the sights, sounds and smells of those experiences. It’s such a powerful feeling to be transported back to those moments, and I truly feel honoured to have been privileged enough to be there at that time.
I love talking to people and hearing all about their amazing experiences – it always sparks new ideas for exciting adventures of my own.
That’s why I started Nothing Ventured- because the world is too big, too beautiful, and too exciting not to explore.
Speciality Areas
At Nothing Ventured, I design bespoke journeys that immerse your senses in rich cultural experiences and authentic exploration.
My mission is to provide unique travel experiences that go beyond the map, diving into moments that connect you with the world\'s most genuine destinations.
My vision is to curate deeply personal experiences that spark curiosity, foster meaningful connections, and transform the way the world is seen, felt and lived.
I envisage travel as a symphony of the senses- where each journey awakens sight, sound, taste, touch, and scent to create unforgettable memories.
I transport travellers beyond the expected, immersing them in the vibrant colours of bustling markets, the melodic whispers of ancient streets, the rich flavours of traditional cuisine, the warmth of artisan- crafted textiles, and the intoxicating aroma of landscapes untouched by time.
What destinations do I love to book for customers?
Personally, while the world is full of wonderous beauty, I would have to say that Eastern travel is my absolute favourite- whether it’s a quick European city break or a three-week adventure in the Far East.
The culture is truly fascinating, the vibrant vistas that captivate me every time. The experiences and adventures on offer are mind-blowing. The local communities I’ve encountered are genuinely warm and happy, which adds such a special touch to every journey.
The cultural immersion of the Far East is unlike anything else. From the ancient temples of Japan to the majestic palaces of Thailand, travellers have the opportunity to connect with the past in meaningful ways. The vibrant festivals and lively local life offer a fun and immersive experience that brings you closer to the community.
The food in the Far East tells it’s own story. Whether it’s enjoying sushi in Japan, pho in Vietnam, or dim sum in Hong Kong, each dish reflects the region’s culture and history through it’s ingredients, flavours, and preparation.
Visiting sacred sites, monasteries, and temples allows travellers to immerse themselves in different spiritual practices- like Buddhism in Thailand to Taoism in China- that offer moments of reflection, personal growth and deeper understanding.
From exploring the natural wonders of Halong Bay or the Great Wall of China to admiring the intricate designs of Buddhist temples, the Far East offers breathtaking landscapes and architecture steeped in cultural significance.
But perhaps most importantly, the people of the Far East are renowned for their hospitality and warmth. Their welcoming attitude creates an enriching experience, making you feel like you are genuinely part of the local culture.
Overall, travelling to the Far East is more than just a holiday- it’s an opportunity to connect with new ways of thinking, living and experiencing the world. The cultural immersion you gain makes the journey incredibly rewarding.
My Favourite Destination
After sharing my love for the Far East, it’s no surprise that my favourite destination is currently Thailand!
My husband and I spent two amazing weeks there for our 10th wedding anniversary. We kicked off our trip in Bangkok, exploring the city by tuk-tuk, visiting stunning temples, including the reclining Buddha and marvelling at the Grand Palace. In the evening, we dined at red Sky’s rooftop, enjoying Asian-infused cuisine with a stunning view of the city.
Next, we flew to Phuket and celebrated in luxury at Devasom in Khao Lak. We relaxed by the infinity pool, savoured fine dining, and took part in the Lot Krathong festival. We crafter krathongs, attended a charity event, and experiences traditional Thai performances. Floating our krathong in the creek was a truly special moment.
During our four days in Khoa Lak, we also visited a local temple, the Tsunami Museum, and explored the night marked. Then, in Phuket, we saw the incredible Siam Niramit show, fed elephants at a rescue sanctuary, and enjoyed a boat trip to Phi Phi Island. We also explored Patong Beach and Bangla Walking Street, which was an unforgettable experience. A highlight was discovering Number 6 on the Hill, a fantastic restaurant with amazing food and views of Phuket by night.
It was an unforgettable trip, and we can’t wait to return and explore more!
